NSE provides:
- Residential care for adults with severe epilepsy and additional disabilities. 24 hour specialist care is complemented by developmental and social activities.
- Rehabilitation, helping people to develop lifeskills to enable them to live
well with their epilepsy.
- Research into causes, diagnosis and treatment. NSE enjoys World Health Organisation status as a centre of excellence for epilepsy and operates the only MRI scanner in the UK dedicated to the condition.

- Assessment at the Sir William Gowers Centre. In it's first year, the Centre admitted 280 patients whose epilepsy had become hard to control for an average 25 days' stays.
- Information, education and training through a helpline, websites, leaflets, CD-ROMs, bespoke training and an outreach programme (The Epilepsy Information Network) providing information in healthcare and other
relevant settings throughout the UK.
