Families of life-limited children often feel alone and very isolated, afraid of what the future may hold. The demands of providing 24-hour care for their child are often exhausting and family life endures tremendous pressures, physically, emotionally and sometimes financially. Parents rarely have any time for themselves and brothers and sisters can often feel left out.

This is where Shooting Star House, Children’s Hospice makes such a difference. Our dedicated Care Team provide essential care for children with life-limiting conditions and offers invaluable support to their families, free of charge, 365 days a year.

With no statutory government funding, we rely entirely upon voluntary fundraising and donations to provide the £2.5 million needed each year to maintain our vital Care Service.

“I was delighted to be able to run the Flora London Marathon and was so grateful to The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice for giving me a Gold Bond place with the charity. At first, raising the money seemed more dauntng to me than training for the run, but their fundraising team were really helpful and friendly and gave me a lot of support. I really felt like part of the team. The atmosphere on the big day was electric and knowing that my efforts would help to care for terminally-ill children in such a safe and loving environment at Shooting Star House, helped me make it to the finish line and achieve a personal ambition.”
